The main component of the RPD system are the displays which consist of 210 high powered LEDS. The RPD displays can be stickered on the outside of the car. The displays are connected to the plug and play RPD-Display Control unit inside of the car. The transmission of the data to the cars is done by the SPAA05 Race Control unit that is connected to the official timekeeping of the track.

The Race Control unit automatically processes and encodes the time data from the timekeeping and transmits it to the cars. The RPD-Display Control units decode the transmission and update the screens. So as soon as a car crosses an The result is that the displays are always showing the official position of the cars in the race.
